Bess Bendet, Executive Director
(2000-2005)
Bess Bendet was the founding Executive Director of Three Guineas Fund. Bess
managed the Fund's grantmaking and partnerships, and worked closely with the
Board of Directors to shape Three Guineas' programs and strategies. In August
2005, Bess left the Fund to enter the
Sloan Program at Stanford's
Graduate School of Business.
Bess has over 15 years of experience working with youth and
adults in classrooms and community based organizations. Bess worked with
Girls Incorporated of Alameda County from 1991 to 1997, where she developed the organization’s science, math, and technology programs. She also managed partnerships with the Oakland and San Francisco Unified School Districts, promoting equity in teacher professional development and School-to-Career initiatives. At Girls Inc., Bess launched the
Eureka Teen Achievement Program, an intensive science, math and sports camp for middle school and high school girls, at Mills College in Oakland, CA. From 1997 to 1999, Bess managed the Institute for Inquiry, a national science education reform project at the
Exploratorium.
Bess earned an MA in Education from the Stanford University School of Education
in 1996, and a BA in Anthropology from Brown University in 1989.
Angela Bottum, Chief Financial Officer
(2001- 2005)
Angela Bottum was the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of
Three Guineas Fund from 2001 through July 2005. Angela managed finance and
operations for the Fund and its operating projects and provided technical
assistance to grant partners. Angela has 13 years of experience in financial
management in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors, as well as additional
professional background in writing, editing, research, and political campaigns.
She continues to work with 3GF on a consulting basis in the areas of finance and
programs. Committed to progressive politics and promoting social justice, Angela
also now serves as finance consultant to several other excellent, social-change
organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Angela holds a B.A. degree in Political Science and History from
Williams College and a Master’s degree in City Planning from
Cornell University.
