Katosi Women Fishing & Development Association consists of a group of women who came together to uplift the social economic standards of living in Uganda. The main activity is fishing and the profits from this are put into a revolving loan fund, which aids members in carrying out individual income generating activities. The profits also fund literacy training for the women, as the association has recognized illiteracy to be a major hindrance in their developmental work.

With a grant of $6,000, Three Guineas is helping the Katosi Women Fishing and Development Assoc. break cultural, social, and economic barriers since previously fishing was regarded as a profitable business of which only men could reap assets. Culturally, women are not allowed to own assets, which leaves them with severe poverty and a lack of independence. But under this project, members are able to increase their income and the capacity of the revolving loan fund, enabling them to own boats, engines, and nets, leading to improved standards of living.
